     Actively participate in the movement toward "zero waste" and eco-friendly. This is done by using non-toxic, environmentally safe products; seeking out a supply chain of sustainably sourced items (i.e. cleaning supplies, paper and art products); converting and up-cycling furniture (tables/shelving); choosing LED lighting, building with reclaimed or sustainably sourced materials whenever possible.

 

     Utilize local businesses to support our community. This includes patronizing neighborhood food businesses for larger school events.

     Promote the vision of a peaceful world by focusing on both outer and inner peace. We understand that there is a duality to peace education in that a balanced inner life gives rise to harmonious external interactions with others. Strategies like the "peace rose method" for conflict resolution and yoga exercises are integrated into the curriculum.

     Intentionally design an environment that stimulates physical activity, imagination, cultural awareness, and stewardship of the land and nature. 

     Utilize the rich diversity and talent in the community by inviting local dancers, artists, performers and musicians to share their skills.

      Support the notion of lifelong learning and nurture the well-being of our adult community by providing opportunities to come together and share ideas in a casual setting (i.e. teacher/parent book club and "Great Minds" discussions).
